A long overdue hobby update!

Welcome back to the Vault everyone! 2025 is going by in a blur; I last posted in February, almost started a post in March and now it's the end of May. Whilst blogging has been lacking, I have been productive on the painting and gaming front.

I've attended two 40k tournaments; First Founding Doubles and the Mayhem singles event. I've taken Chaos Knights to both, even painting a couple of extra Huntsman for Mayhem. Both events were fun but I achieved a bit more success at Mayhem placing 7th, and reminding me there are brief moments when I'm not terrible at this game!

Painting wise I also finished up the Astral Claws Termie Boarding Actions force with the Libbie and Assault Terminators.

The Assault Termies do look quite small compared to the new 10th edition sculpts. I don't love how the runes on the Librarian turned out, but otherwise I'm happy with this force.

I decided I'd really like to paint something other than Space Marines for a while and the hobby butterfly settled upon some of the Tyranids I'd been slowly accumulating over 10th edition. A discussion with Tom about the joys of Contrast paints and the relative simplicity of the Hive Fleet Kraken scheme, and another Boarding Actions force has been completed.

First up 20 Hormagaunts. I am pleased to say painting this many little bugs did not drive me bonkers!

Then 6 Raveners. Completed just as the new sculpts were announced. Doh.

Followed by 6 Von Ryan's Leapers.

And then the centre piece; Death Leaper! Such an awesome sculpt, and I love the way he towers over his scuttling minions.

This has let me fill in a few more boxes on the Hobby Bingo card:

Looking forward to the summer I have a couple of events booked in; a one day 2K tournament and then a doubles with Dave. I'm currently suffering from my usual army paralysis; I think I might dig out my Iron Warriors or possibly even the Carcharodons.

Once I've made my choice I'll let you all know.
